Tanker carrying 1.4 million litres of oil capsizes offshore Philippines

Hanoi (VNA) - A Philippine-flagged tanker carrying 1.4 million litres of industrial fuel oil capsized and sank in waters off Manila, the Phillipines, on July 25.

Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista told a briefing that authorised units were able to rescue 16 out of the 17 crewmembers, one is missing.

Strong winds and high waves were hampering response efforts, Bautista said./.
