Ten Vietnamese working in the country have been listed among the world's best scientists by research.com, a reputable scientist ranking website.

Hanoi (VNA) - Ten Vietnamese working in thecountry have been listed among the world's best scientists by research.com, areputable scientist ranking website.

The ranking is based on D-index (Discipline H-index), which includespapers and citation values for an examined discipline. It analysed the data of 166,880scientists in 24 areas on Microsoft Academic Graph.

The ten scientists named in the ranking specialise in six areas– engineering and technology, computer science, environmental science, materialscience, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and community health.

They include four scientists from the Vietnam National University-Hanoi -  Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc; Assoc. Prof. Dr. LeHoang Son; Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Binh Minh.

The others are Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan (Phiiippe Derreumaux), Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thoi Trung, Assoc. Prof. Thai Hoang Chien from Ton Duc Thang University; Prof. Nguyen Van Hieu from Phenikaa University; Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hung and Assoc. Prof. Phung Van Phuc from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Earlier in October 2021, five Vietnamese were named in the list of the world’stop 10,000 scientists released by the US’s PLOS BiologyJournal, including Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc and Assoc. Prof. Dr. LeHoang Son./.

AI brings breakthrough opportunities, cybersecurity risks, experts warn

A report from Fortinet in June revealed that automated scanning attempts had surged to 36,000 per second, a 17% increase from the previous year. Alarmingly, 42% of these were account takeover attacks, and leaks involving 1.7 billion sets of credentials. In Vietnam, data from the National Cybersecurity Association showed that 659,000 cyberattacks were recorded in 2024, affecting approximately 46.15% of government agencies and enterprises.
