Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam reached the semi-final stage at the Egypt F27 Men’s Futures, which is taking place at Sharm El Sheikh town in Egypt.
This is the first time Nam has progressed this far at a competition of this kind.
Unseeded Nam, 18, came from behind to beat fifth seed and 29-year-old Baris Erguden of Turkey 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
Nam had 10 aces in the match and only made two double faults.
Reaching the semi-final stage also gives Nam six points, which will help him improve his place in the ATP ranking, which currently stand at 1317th.
Nam’s opponent in the semi-finals will be second-seeded Daniel Cox of Great Britain.
Previously, in the second round, Nam had an easy win over Cameron Silverman of the United States.
The Egypt F27 Men’s Futures is part of the 2015 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Men’s Circuit, the 2015 edition of the entry level tour for men's professional tennis. -VNA
