Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has jumped 11 places from No 60 to No 49 in the latest rankings of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Nam's advance is attributed to his recent success at the 25th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Junior Championships in Manila in the Philippines.
He entered the quarter-finals of the men's singles and the semi-finals of men's doubles events in the championship.
This is the highest rank ever achieved by a Vietnamese tennis player.
Nam aims to win a place in the French Open, scheduled to begin in May in Paris.
In another development, Nguyen Hoang Thien lost to world No 394 and No 5 seed Andrew Whittington of Australia in the main round of the ITF Philippines F1 Men's Futures on March 26.-VNA
