Vientiane (VNA) – A test flight supported by the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) was conducted on April 19 at Nong Khang airport in Laos’ Huaphanh province.
The aircraft used for testing from April 19-27 is a Super King Air, Models B300 coded HS-AIM.
The airport is designed to receive 70-100-seat planes such as ATR 72, Fokker 70, Fokker-100, or equivalent aircraft. Its runway is 2,400m long and 30m wide.
Work on the 82 million USD airport started in 2013. With its runway completed and flight support system installed, the airport meets the standards of the Civil Aviation Administration (MOS 2009) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The project is invested by the Civil Aviation Department under Lao Ministry of Defence, with Vietnam's Airport Design And Construction Consultancy One Member Limited Liability Company and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agriculture Joint Stock Company as contractors.
The operation of Nong Khang airport is expected to help Laos attract more foreign investors, promote tourism cooperation, and create added value for the economy, thereby improving people's living conditions. The project will be handed over at the end of this month./.
