Tet festival celebrated in Laos, Bulgaria

Addressing the celebration in Vientiane on Feb. 9, Ambassador Ta Minh Chau stressed that in 2010 Vietnam and Laos will witness significant political events such as the National Party Congress of Vietnam, the Thang Long-Hanoi millennium anniversary and the National Party Congress of Laos.

Comprehensive cooperation is one of the decisive factors that will aid the two countries’ revolutionary cause bringing their renewal process to achieve more successes, he said.

Ambassador Chau thanked the Party, State and people of Laos for their sentiments and valuable assistance to staff members of Vietnam ’s embassy and other representative offices in Laos .

The function drew President of the Lao National Assembly Thongsinh Thammavong, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, and other Lao senior officials.

Earlier on Feb. 8, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Tran Van Thinh gave a reception to mark the 60th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and Tet festival.

Ambassador Thinh spoke highly of Bulgaria ’s recognition and establishment of diplomatic ties with Vietnam 60 years ago.

He thanked the Bulgarian people for their solidarity, support and assistance to the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national independence in the past as well as national construction at present.

Vietnam began its doi moi (renewal process) in mid-1980s and obtained great achievements, raising position and prestige, he said, adding that in its external relations policy, Vietnam fosters and promotes cooperation and friendship with allies.

Bulgarian first Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raykov hailed the two countries’ solidarity, friendship and cooperation of over 60 years.

Thousands of specialists in Vietnam studied in Bulgaria and many of them held important positions in the political, and economic system and served as a bridge in the two nations’ ties, he said.

The Deputy FM affirmed that Bulgaria attaches importance to enhancing bilateral cooperation and friendship with Vietnam and in international cooperation framework like ASEAN-EU, ASEM, the United Nations./.
