Thai Cabinet approves New Year traditional celebrations

The Thai Cabinet has approved a proposal to organise a traditional-Buddhist New Year celebration nationwide.
Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – The Thai Cabinet has approved a proposal to organise a traditional-Buddhist New Year celebration nationwide.

The information was revealed by Assistant Spokesperson to the Prime Minister’s Office Col Taksada Sangkhachan.

In a traditional way, on the New Year’s Eve, a bell will be sounded by monks nine times at temples across the country. This will be followed by a prayer ceremony and a candle procession.

An almsgiving ceremony will be held the following morning.

In addition, the Cabinet has instructed 15 border provinces to organise the prayer ceremony for ASEAN countries and 504 Thai temples overseas to join the bandwagon.-VNA
