The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) of Thailand projected on August 13 that the country’s economy will expand by 4 percent in the latter half of the year.
According to the NCPO, the improved growth prospect was due to improvements in consumer confidence and business confidence. The accelerated growth in the second half will allow the whole-year figure to reach 2 percent.
The council also instructed related agencies to ensure the smooth co-existence of the tourism industry and the demands of internal security. More public relations aimed at tourists will be made, and security measures for foreign visitors will be improved.
The council also approved fifteen draft laws on August 13, including one aimed at tightening control over surrogacy.-VNA
