Lo Thi Hoang, a Thai ethnic athlete, broke the SEA Games' female javelin throw record. She threw a javelin to a distance of 56.37m, in the women's competition on the afternoon of May 18, surpassing formidable opponents.

This achievement of Hoang broke the old record of 55.97m, set in 2007 by a Thai athlete.
