The Thai military government has set up a committee for reconciliation and reform as part of its roadmap leading up to elections, Banpot Phunpian, spokesman of the Internal Security Operations Command, said on June 17.
It is responsible for gathering opinions and suggestions from various agencies to formulate a plan on national reconciliation and reform, Banpot said.
The committee, supervised by the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence, includes representatives of relevant government agencies, he revealed.
A working group for reform preparations directly under the committee has also been set up, the spokesman said, adding it is designed to compile reform proposals from diversified sources, including political parties, academics and the general public.
According to the government’s roadmap, it could take at least one year to complete the reconciliation and reform process before a general election can be held.-VNA
