The Tourism and Sports Ministry of Thailand has introduced 24-hour mobile police units at major tourist attractions to assist both Thai and international tourists in case of emergency.
The units would provide an around-the-clock information service and assistance at major tourist sites in Ayutthaya and Phuket as well as a famous seaside beach resort of Pattaya in Chon Buri and Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
There are two types of mobile police units, including four fully equipped multi-purpose vehicles with CCTV cameras and a two-seat trailer with database system and WiFi service for Thai and foreign travelers.
It is expected that the units can ensure the safety and good facilities for tourists.
Thailand has targeted to welcome more than 26 million visitors and earn 1.17 trillion baht in tourism revenue this year.
The country's tourism industry continued thriving, posting a growth of around 19-20 percent in the first half of this year.-VNA
