Thai Nguyen eyes stronger hi-tech agriculture cooperation with Israel

Thai Nguyen (VNA) – A workshop discussing closed agricultural solutions for farmers was heldon October 22 in the northern province of Thai Nguyen by the provincial People’sCommittee and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam.

In his speech at the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee DuongVan Luong briefed participants on geographical features, socio-economicdevelopment, potential and strengths of Thai Nguyen for agricultural development.

He expressed his hope that via the workshop, local enterprises, farmers, and agriculturalproduction cooperatives will be introduced and supported in implementing closedagricultural models for farmers through Israel’s high-tech engineering model.

Cooperation activitiesbetween partners of Thai Nguyen and Israel will be an important foundation for theVietnamese locality, the embassy, and Israeli partners to build long-termcooperation relationships during the time to come, he said.

Israeli Ambassador NadavEshcar highly valued the recent cooperation between the two countries ingeneral and between Thai Nguyen and Israel in particular in the fields ofeducation-training and trade, saying that he hopes the collaboration between the two sides will be further strengthened in the future, especially inhi-tech agriculture.

Israel is willing to support Thai Nguyen in introducing new and moderntechnologies to local farmers, he affirmed.

Over the last fiveyears, Thai Nguyen has cooperated with Israel in education-training andresearch. Particularly, since 2014, the Thai Nguyen University has sent nearly 900students to Israel for internships in high-tech agriculture.

In 2020, the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture andForestry received an automatic and economical watering system in net house for intensive cultivation of vegetables andflowers funded by the Israeli government.
 
At the seminar, Israeli agri-businesses introduced hi-tech agricultural modelssuch as family-scale greenhouse; irrigation system for farm house, and equipmentto turn organic waste into electricity.

Previously,the ambassador and representatives of Thai Nguyen province cut the ribbon tolaunch the automatic and economical watering system in net house at the ThaiNguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. This project has a total budgetof over 20,000 USD, with half funded by the Israeligovernment./.
