Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s parliament began a two-day special session on October 26 to discuss solutions to the recent political crisis.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Chuan Leekpai called on MPs and senators to make a concerted effort to find a solution to the political conflict.

Student-led protests have escalated over the past three months, and with the latest one on October 14, when demonstrators gathered en masse in the Thai capital.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared a state of emergency in Bangkok effective from 4:00 am on October 15 to control the escalating pro-democracy protest by demonstrators. He removed the status on October 22.

In a televised speech on October 21 evening, the PM called on relevant parties to keep calm and take part in dialogue to solve conflicts./.
