Bangkok (VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin met with GermanPresident Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Bangkok on January 25, on the occasion ofthe guest’s visit from January 24-26.
The Thai Government’sspokesperson Chai Wacharonke said the two leaders had discussed topics relatedto investment, energy, security, climate change, economy, and tourism,especially Thailand's sustainable development.
He said President Steinmeierhad vowed to help Thailand implement carbon reduction projects for the net-zero emissiongoal soon, and proposed German companies step up investments in electricvehicle production in Thailand.
Srettha,for his part, wished that Germany would supportthe exemption of Schengen visa for Thai citizens, adding that Thailand is alsoa popular destination among German visitors.
Both leaders later witnessedthe signing of bilateral cooperation agreements in railway and science.
The spokesperson said thecountry is aiming to upgrade its relationship with Germany to a strategic partnership./.
