Thai PM survives no confidence vote

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan survived a parliamentary no confidence vote on November 28.

The PM received 297 votes of confidence and 134 votes of no confidence out of a total 492 votes, Speaker of the Thai Parliament Somsak Kiatsuranont said.

The interior minister received 296 votes of confidence and 135 votes of no confidence.

The same day, protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban rejected the PM’s offer for talks which aim to prevent a political crisis and put an end to current anti-government rallies.

On November 27, Yingluck called on demonstrators to start a dialogue so as to end the political turmoil, which she said is hurting the country./.
