Thai PM to attend world conference on disaster risk reduction

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will be in Japan on March 13-14 to attend the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will be in Japan on March 13-14to attend the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

GeneralPrayut indicated that he will attend the event to relay Thailand'sexperience in dealing with the 2004 tsunami and flood disasters, inaddition to re-asserting Thailand's commitment to supporting disasterrisk reduction.

Emphasis will be made on preemptive collaboration between the state and civic sectors on disaster prevention.

TheWorld Conference in Sendai, Japan is expected to be attended by around8,000 participants, with thousands more participating in events linkedto the conference.-VNA
