Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha (Photo: VNA) Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has asked the societynot to overreact to the government’s new Royal Decree on Migrant WorkerManagement as its harsher punishments have been delayed from effect by sixmonths.
However, he affirmed that the regulation is needed and employers and employeesmust comply with its rules.
The PM has urged foreign labourers and employers to use the grace periodafforded to them by the government to take necessary legal steps to satisfy theregulations of the Royal Decree on Migrant Worker Management.
He said there should be no cause for concern as the regulation does not barforeign labourers, it merely requires them to be legally registered.
On punitive fines the private sector has called excessive, the PM said theMinistry of Labour has been asked to study the issue further.
The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has stepped up its work tocreate understanding towards the intentions of the decree, underlining that itmandates proper treatment of migrant workers and adherence to labour laws.-VNA
