Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Prime Minister’s Industry Award 2018 has recognised outstanding small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for their excellent standards.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha has presided over the awards ceremony and said the winners serve as examples of dedication, development and creativity for their peers.
He called on the industrial sector to help boost national development in accordance with the administration’s Thailand 4.0 development agenda. The Thailand 4.0 policy promotes the use of innovation and technology to advance the economy.
This year’s ceremony made 92 awards and distinguished itself from previous occasions by including a SME category for businesses that have developed their potential and elevated their competitiveness through various state programmes and initiatives under the Ministry of Industry.
The premier took the opportunity to publicise his administration’s business policies, which advocate connectivity and encourage stakeholders to meet international standards.
Under the 20-year national strategy, six plans have been laid out to support low-income earners.
PM Prayut defended the long-term strategy as a way to bring consistency to Thailand’s government, and not as a way of holding on to political power.-NNT/VNA
