Sisaket province is conducting an open village programme to showcase its local Khmer-Sisaket culture and promote tourism ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in late 2015.
Activities at the venue feature various distinctive aspects of the Khmer-Sisaket culture, which has defined the province since the dawn of its colorful history, such as traditional weaving, rice mortaring, and a demonstration of how to cook traditional dishes.
The AEC marks the commitment of ASEAN leaders to building and promoting a single market and production base, a highly competitive economic region tempered with equitable development, and a region fully integrated into the global economy.
ASEAN or the Association of South East Asian Nations consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
