Provinces across Thailand have stepped their security and safety measures for the upcoming Loy Kratong festival.
In the lower northern province of Sukhothai, 330 police officers, army officers, and volunteers were sent out to patrol streets to suppress criminal activities and any forms of drug trafficking before local and foreign tourists join in to celebrate the festival.
Around four hundred officials and volunteers were also deployed in the central province of Lopburi before Loy Krathong to assure visitors would be safe and to prevent any hazards that may occur from firecrackers and floating lanterns.
Other provinces across the country are also checking up their areas to accommodate tourists for the upcoming event, which will be held on November 6-7 in many places nationwide.-VNA
