Thai traditional medicine promoted in ASEAN

Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province recently hosted an event entitled “Thai Traditional Medicine in ASEAN”, with an aim to promote sustainable development of local wisdoms and personnel in traditional medicine ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

Kanbhanaburi, in cooperation with 16 other central provinces,organised the festival to prepare the country’s traditional medicinesector for a growing demand in the AEC.

The purpose ofthe festival was to uplift the quality and enhance the potentials ofrelated personnel as well as to build networks of entrepreneurs withinthe central region, to strengthen the protection and development of Thaitraditional medicine.

As the AEC is coming in less than 2years, the Thai traditional medicine is expected to become popular, andtherefore the sector has to be strengthened to be able to catch up withan increasing demand in the ASEAN region.-VNA

Indian airline launches direct Mumbai–Hanoi route

The new route operates four flights a week and is the first direct Mumbai–Hanoi service operated by an Indian airline. Hanoi has become Akasa Air’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia, after Phuket, Thailand.
