The country also proposes the Republic of Korea import Thai chicken which is expected to be ready for shipment late this year, he added.

Tritsadi said on March 11 that Japan has already imported raw chicken meat from Thailand since December 2013. As many as 200,000 tonnes of Thai chicken meat is expected to be exported, comprised of 70,000 tonnes of raw chicken meat and 130,000 tonnes of processed chicken meat.

Before the previous bird flu outbreak, Japan had bought more than 200,000 tonnes of raw chicken meat a year from Thailand .

To deal with the current bird flu outbreak in the ASEAN region and neighboring countries, Thailand has constantly implemented surveillance and prevention measures.

Farmers will spray disinfectant twice a year at every farm and four times a year in vulnerable areas. Public health agencies and border customs checkpoints will closely monitor the transport of poultry.-VNA
