Thailand approves 2.4 trillion THB transport infrastructure plan

The National Council for Peace and Order of Thailand has given the green light to the 2.4-trillion-THB infrastructure plan that will be implemented during the next eight years.
The National Council for Peace and Order of Thailand has given the greenlight to the 2.4-trillion-THB infrastructure plan that will beimplemented during the next eight years.

Permanent Secretary forTransport Soythip Trisuth unveiled after the NCPO meeting on July 29that the massive investment in the transport system will be carried outbetween 2015 and 2022 with the aim of facilitating social stability andeconomic growth.

The scheme is comprised of five key projects -development of inter-city rail network, development of transportation inBangkok and its vicinity, improvement of highway network to linkimportant local production hubs with markets in neighboring countries,development of water transport network, and enhancing Thailand ’s airtransport competitiveness.

Moreover, the NCPO also nodded to a127 billion THB project to construct six dual-track lines and alsoappointed a task force to find financial sources for the project within a30-day time frame.

Once the construction is completed, the train track will have a combined length of 887 kilometers.-VNA

Indian airline launches direct Mumbai–Hanoi route

The new route operates four flights a week and is the first direct Mumbai–Hanoi service operated by an Indian airline. Hanoi has become Akasa Air’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia, after Phuket, Thailand.
