Thai government will open bidding for 330,390 tonnes of rice on October 14 in an effort to promote its rice export in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Thai Ministry of Commerce said bidders can be both foreign and domestic businesses.
Thai Government plans to bid monthly 1.5 million tones of rice in the last three months of this year to help fund for the rice pledging scheme.
The Government has so far sold out 240,000 of 660,000 tonnes of rice offered for bidding in July and August. Biddings didn’t attract many businesses due to high selling price and low rice demand.
The Thai Ministry of Commerce also said the country stockpiled 15 million tonnes of rice including 5 million tonnes had been signed to sell through intergovernmental group on rice.-VNA
