Bangkok (VNA) – The Government of Thailand is mulling over a new economic stimulus plan, which is expected to revitalise the underperforming economy.
Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Finance Somchai Sujjapongse said the proposed measures will bolster the country’s economic growth next year. It is estimated that one million local people will benefit from the plan and the Thai economy is projected to expand by 3.4 percent in 2017.
Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) is hoped to rise thanks to the deployment of major infrastructure projects.
Earlier this year, the Thai Government revealed an economic stimulus package worth 50-80 billion THB (1.4-2.2 billion USD), allowing to deduct 15,000 THB (421.4 USD) from taxable income to encourage consumer’s spending.-VNA
