The Thailand pavilion has drawn a great deal of world attention at the Expo Milano 2015, commented Agriculture & Cooperatives Minister Chatchai Sarikallaya.

The Thai agriculture minister met with Bruno Antonio Pasquino, General Commissioner of Expo Milano 2015, and thanked the organisers for providing conveniences to the Thai pavilion since May 1 and until October 31 this year.

Significantly, Thai Princess Sirindhorn was warmly welcomed during a visit to the expo on August 24, he said.

The Thai pavilion has been a great success in terms of popularity as it was top-rated among a total of 145 countries participating in the event.

Meanwhile, the Thai pavilion also received attention from the foreign media, especially social media which ranked Thailand as one of the top five exhibitors with the most distinctive architectural style among the other four countries including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

This was considered a success in creating the country's positive image so that the world community could recognise Thailand's potentials in various fields such as architecture, culture, tourism and the country's readiness to become the ''World's Kitchen.''

The Expo Milano 2015 also created the opportunity for varied governments, private agencies and organizations to cooperate in solving the world's major problems including hunger, poverty and malnutrition.

The Thai pavilion focuses on agricultural development and sustainable energy which has become a national agenda and expresses confidence to the extent that this country has the potentials to become the "World's Kitchen" with respect to food safety and qualities.

In addition, the Thai pavilion features approaches to sustainable agricultural development in accordance with the King's initiatives toward the betterment of the Thai farmers' welfare.-VNA/NNT
