Thailand: Former Prime Minister’s passport petition rejected

The Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand has rejected former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's petition to have his Thai passports restored.

Bangkok (VNA) – The SupremeAdministrative Court of Thailand has rejected former Thai Prime MinisterThaksin Shinawatra's petition to have his Thai passports restored.

The Supreme Administrative Court said on May 1that it agreed with the Central Administrative Court's decision to dismissThaksin's petition. 

In 2016 the Central Administrative Courtrejected a lawsuit filed by Thaksin after the Thai government revoked histwo regular Thai passports.

Thaksin accused the Department of ConsularAffairs of revoking the passports illegally in May 2015.

Thaksin served as Thailand's prime minister from2001 to 2006. He was overthrown in a coup.-VNA

Massive pub fire in Thailand kills at least 27 people

Video footage shared online by emergency responders shows a huge blaze raging and plumes coming out of the front door of the Na Ladprao pub in the northern part of the Thai capital.
