Thailand is gearing up for the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition to be held in Bangkok from August 31 to September 2.

Thailand is gearing up for the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition to beheld in Bangkok from August 31 to September 2.

The competition allows the region’syouth to exchange experience in skill development, helping them keep pace withnew technologies, meet international standards and ultimately enhance thepotential of ASEAN. 

Thai Labour Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew saidpreparations for the competition have been completed. Various agencies havecontributed their expertise to organise the event and ensure transparency andfairness. The Public Relations Department will be disseminating information inboth Thai and English through all media channels. 

The competition will consist of 26 occupations grouped intosix categories, consisting of industrial technology, web design andcommunications, fashion and creative industries, transportation and logistics,construction and buildings and personal and social services. 

Adul said all occupations represent the skills necessary forthe development of target industries in the country. The competition serves toprepare the next generation to meet the needs of the future labour market. Itis also an opportunity for Thailand to be recognised for its skills, which willin turn attract foreign investment.

He invited Thais to be good hosts to the participating countries and to supportthe Thai competitors.-NNT/VNA
