Thailand: General election to take place on schedule

Most of those present at a government-held meeting in the day’s morning agreed that the election should go ahead, she said.

The meeting saw the participation of representatives from 14 political parties, including the ruling Puea Thai. However, the Democrat Party and anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee did not send any representatives to the event.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana stressed that the Government believes the upcoming election will bring the situation back to normal.

Meanwhile, protesters continued to besiege some other Government agencies such as the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the National Police Headquarters.-VNA
