Danube river (Source: Internet) Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand and Hungary have established a cooperation to adopt theDanube River’s water management strategy with the Mekong River.
Thai Deputy PrimeMinister Chatchai Sarikulya revealed he has visited Hungary and discussed thewater management cooperation with the Hungarian government. The two sidesagreed to develop five joint projects, including international river managementon Danube and Mekong river basins, the management of sediments in rivers,flooding, drought, and wastewater management; groundwater capacity building,and irrigational development.
Thailand’s Office ofNational Water Resources (ONWR) will liaise with Hungarian authorities toprepare a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries.
The cooperationbetween Thailand and Hungary corresponds to the national water managementmaster plan on the restoration and conservation of water resources, and themanagement of international water basins.
Hungary is considered one of the most well-known eastern European countries forwater conservation, renewable energy from waste water, water engineering, andinternational river management. Both countries have also discussed investmentopportunities, the deputy premier said.
ONWR Secretary GeneralSomkiat Prajamwong said Thailand may adopt operations from Hungary in theinternational river management, adding that Thailand is invited to participatein a Budapest Water Summit on October 15-17, which is a high-level meeting onwater crisis prevention where advanced water management technology will beexhibited.-NNT/VNA
