Bangkok (VNA) – An organic law on political parties of Thailand, approved by King Maha Vajiralongkorn - Rama X, took effect on October 8, reported the Thai Royal Gazette.
The new law comprises 11 parts and 152 articles. This is the third out of 10 laws that need the king’s approval after the promulgation of the 2017 Constitution in April.
The two others are the law on the Election Committee and the law on criminal procedures against people holding political positions.
The Constitution Drafting Committee is expected to complete the drafting of remaining laws before December 2.
Although the law on political parties came into effect, political parties in Thailand are showing concerns over the National Council for Peace and Order’s ban on crowds gathering and other political activities, which could affect their preparations for the election.-VNA
