Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and his Laos counterpart Thongsing Thammavong have agreed to promote and deepen the bilateral relations with a view to preparing for the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015.
The two leaders reached the consensus during their meeting in Vientiane on November 26 as part of the Thai premier’s visit to Laos.
The two sides consented to continue boundary survey and demarcation as well as to step up collaboration in labour, trade, investment, tourism, human resources and infrastructure development.
The PMs also witnessed the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on developing the second phase of Bokeo Hospital, scientific and technological cooperation, and financing a road connecting Hongsa district in Thailand’s Sayaboury province and Chonphet district of Laos’ Luang Prabang province.
The same day, PM Prayuth paid courtesy visits to Lao President Choummaly Sayasone and National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou.-VNA
