The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new project called ASEAN to Thailand in which some press agencies in ASEAN were invited to discover the amazing of Thailand in this month.
The project is one of several tourism promotion activities to enhance Thai tourism as a dream destination among ASEAN members, especially as all Southeast Asian countries are now moving towards the integration under the ASEAN Economic Community framework, which will come into effect in late 2015.
Under the project, media members from ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand were participated in the trip to three old towns in central provinces of Ayutthaya, Ang Thong and Suphan Buri, some of which have played vital roles in the history of the ASEAN region.
The tour route has been carefully selected to showcase the central provinces of Thailand that provide great examples of ASEAN’s old towns.
The key objective is to promote the awareness of Thailand as the ASEAN dream destination with the rich cultural heritages as well as the variety of tourist attractions, tourism products and services that Thailand has been offering, governor of TAT Thawatchai Arunyik said.
The agreement on the AEC integration signed by Thailand and other ASEAN member countries will see the Southeast Asian region become a single market with free flow of products, services, investment and labour across all member nations.
