Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand will kick off the “One Village, One Thai Food Chef” project in June, aiming to train 75,000 professional cooks by 2027.
The project, which is part of the strategic roadmap to promote Thai food across the world, is in line with the government’s soft power and could bring a new source of revenue to the country, said Thai Minister of Higher Education, Science Research and Innovation Supamas Isarabhakdi.
The official said the ministry will provide instructors from culinary institutes to help restauranteurs develop know-how in Thai cuisine.
Support from academics and innovation researchers is important to help develop local wisdom and identities, thus increasing the economic value of local heritage, she added./.
