- On development measures forsouthern border provinces, the Thai government is promoting the Triangle ofSecurity, Prosperity, and Sustainability model to help end violent incidents inthe region.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, president ofthe strategic committee on the development of southern border provinces, haschaired the first committee meeting this year to conclude the results of pastdevelopment projects, and advance the materialisation of the government’s keypolicies on southern border province development.

The meeting was attended by the Minister attached to the PrimeMinister’s Office Tewan Liptapallop, and officials from related agencies.

The meeting discussed the social, economic, and livelihooddevelopment in southern border provinces villagers, including the extension ofthe Triangle of Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability development model,urgent actions to alleviate villagers’ hardships regarding occupational landrights certification, a special economic zone development in Narathiwat,security development through the Subdistricts of Security, Prosperity, andSustainability campaign, and compensation to victims of violence, includingassistance to the family of Abdullah Isa Musa, and the establishment of a policyand administrative committee on compensation for victims of violent incidentsin southern border provinces.

Gen Prawit Wongsuwan asked all sectors to join hands in thedevelopment of the southern border provinces to achieve the government’s setgoals, which include an end to violent incidents in the area, and fast-trackingdevelopments in all respects together. He said economic development will serveas a good mechanism, creating more jobs and opportunities for villagers./.

TAT showcases Thai culture at Mumbai travel festival
