In its 2017 report, Thailand scored 56 and ranked 37th.
The index takes into consideration three main areas, which are budget transparency, or the disclosure of information to the public, the level of public participation and the efficacy of organizations monitoring and auditing the budget.
Thailand's improvement was attributed to more comprehensive budget reports provided by the Bureau of the Budget and local administrations, as well as increased availability of information online.
The Kingdom's improved standing in the index reflects a significant increase in the transparency of Thailand's central budgeting and could have a positive influence on future surveys. - VNA
