Thailand submits letter of intent to join BRICS

Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sanjampongsa has handed over to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov an official letter of intent to become a full member of BRICS.

Moscow (VNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sanjampongsa has handed over to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov an official letter of intent to become a full member of BRICS.

The handover of this document was carried out after the "BRICS Dialogue with developing countries" which took place in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia on June 11.

Russia assumes the rotating presidency of BRICS in 2024.

This year, the bloc has admitted five new members, which are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia. The BRICS Summit will be held in Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan, Russia, next October./.
