Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on October 23 presided over the opening ceremony of the OTOP Health & Herb 2013 Fair, during which she announced that the government has set the OTOP sales target of 100 billion THB for 2015.
The PM said the government is determined to promote health-related products which have become a trend in many countries worldwide and Thai herbs are one of the outstanding OTOP products.
OTOP (One Tampon One Product) sales are expected to stand at over 86 billion THB in 2013.
The OTOP Health & Herb 2013 Fair seeks to further develop OTOP products and increase consumer access to high-quality health-related goods at affordable prices. The event also helps expand channels of distribution for OTOP entrepreneurs and promotes Thai wisdoms.
More than 1,000 shops nationwide are taking part in the fair to showcase and sell food and health products. Healthy food and beverages as well as dietary supplements are available throughout the event scheduled to last until October 28.
Cultural performances and cooking demonstrations have also been held during the fair.-VNA/NNT
