Thailand to hold grand Chinese New Year celebrations

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to organize grand Chinese New Year celebrations in 12 major tourist areas across the country in the hope to attract Chinese tourists during the long holiday.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to organize grand Chinese New Year celebrations in 12 major tourist areas across the country in the hope to attract Chinese tourists during the long holiday.

A grand opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year celebrations will take place at China Town, Yaowarat. More than 670,000 Thai and foreign tourists are expected to join in the celebrations in the 12 areas from February 18-24.

The 12 areas include Bangkok, Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Trang, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Sawan, Songkhla’s Hat Yai district, Ayutthaya, Pattaya and Chiang Mai.

The TAT has projected that 53,000 Chinese tourists will travel to Thailand in February this year with tourism revenue of 22.9 billion THB.-VNA
