Chiang Rai (NNT/VNA) – Thailand’s Finance Ministry will hostthe 23rd ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM) under the theme of “AdvancingPartnership for Sustainability.”
Natthawut Thammasiri, director of the International Economic PolicyBureau, said the meeting would be organized in Chiang Rai on April 3-5, alongwith the 5th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting(AFMGM). The meetings will focus on connectivity, sustainability and immunity.
For connectivity, the participants would focus on the integration ofpayment systems and services, the use of local currencies for product andservice payment and investment, transnational electronic money transfers andthe use of universal QR codes for payment in Southeast Asia.
For sustainability, ASEAN member states will support their financialsectors in response to Sustainable Development Goals and to promote access tofinancial services.
For immunity, participants will discuss cybersecurity and joint effortsto regulate digital assets.-NNT/VNA
