The Thai Commerce Ministry is set to organise “THAIFEX - World of food ASIA 2014” on May 21-25, with a view to promoting the popularity of Thai food in the international community.
Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the International Trade Promotion Department (DITP), revealed that the combined value of Thai food exports last year totalled 25 billion USD, with canned and processed food products topping the list, followed by rice, frozen shrimp, and processed fruit and vegetables.
As this year’s exports have been heavily affected by the political turmoil, the DITP will host the event once again to trigger the food export industry as well as to prepare the Thai food entrepreneurs for the advent of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
Visitors will be offered with quality food products from 1,500 companies in Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Italy Cambodia, Brazil, Brunei, Singapore, Turkey, and Vietnam.-VNA
