Thai ministers will make overseas visits to boost investment in the country as well as reinforce foreign investor confidence, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said on October 7.
The Deputy PM said he directed the ministers of commerce, science and transport to team up with representatives of private businesses for a roadshow in western countries, adding that he is planning a visit to Germany.
He noted Thailand’s brighter economic outlook and improved domestic consumer confidence after the Cabinet introduced an array of stimulus packages to boost rural spending and provide credit more easily to small- and medium-sized enterprises.
According to a September survey by the Kasikorn Research Centre released on October 6, householders’ economic and income expectations are at their six-month high thanks to the new stimulus packages.
Somkid Jatusripitak said the weakening baht has helped Thai exporters and the Bank of Thailand will do its best to ensure the currency’s stability.-VNA
