The central province of Thanh Hoa on August 22 launched its representative office in Freiberg city, Mittelsachsen province of Germany ’s Saxony state and signed a number of cooperation agreements with the province.
The moves mark a new milestone in the two localities’ relations, opening up new opportunities for them to boost their partnership, Mittelsachsen Administrator Volker Uhlig told reporters after the signing ceremony.
Uhlig, who visited Thanh Hoa last October, emphasised great potential for bilateral cooepration, especially in technology transfer, biogas production and energy.
Thanh Hoa’s representative office will be a reliable destination for German enterprises which are interested in the Vietnamese market and want to seek partners here.
Last year, Mittelsachsen province also set up its representative office in Thanh Hoa.
Meanwhile, Mai Van Ninh, Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, said the launching of the office as well as the signing of the agreements are part of the province’s development strategy and its efforts to realise the bilateral partnership with Mittelsachsen initiated in 2013.
He said he hopes leaders and businesses of both sides will continue working closely for the effective implementation of the reached agreements.
On the occasion, the LSTW construction company of Freiberg city signed a deal with Thanh Hoa to implement a trial project to build 10km of road using high technology.
Earlier on August 20, the two localities jointly held a conference on the Vietnamese economy in Freiberg with the participation of nearly 60 German enterprises and some Vietnamese firms.
At the event, Uhlig called on both sides to expand their cooperation scale, pledging that his province will support Thanh Hoa in technology.
The Thanh Hoa leader briefed the German firms on the province’s socio-economic development and preferential policies it gives to investors. He also introduced Nghi Son economic zone and a number of key projects in the locality.
During the conference, some German companies, mostly operating in banking, wind power, paper, construction and machinery manufacturing, showed their services and products.-VNA
