The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and the Chinese Bank of Import and Export inked an agreement on Dec. 17 to grant a loan to Vinh Tan 2 thermal power plant in the southern province of Binh Thuan.
The 300 million USD agreement will boost the construction of the 2 x 600MW power plant and step up implementation of the Government’s electricity plan.
The Vinh Tan 2 is one of three plants at the Vinh Tan Electricity Centre under the national electric development plan for the 2006-2015 period, which was approved by the Prime Minister with a total investment capital of nearly 23.5 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD).
Project construction began in August and the plant will be operated by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)./.
