A corner of Thua Thien-Hue province (Photo: VNA) Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue attracted 11 investment projects worth nearly 2 trillion VND (87.5 million USD) in the first five months of 2018.
The figure has raised the total number of investment projects in the province to 151 with registered capital of 72.3 trillion VND (3.1 billion USD), including 36 foreign-invested ones with registered capital of more than 31.2 trillion VND.
Major projects include the Laguna – Lang Co project worth 2 billion USD invested by Banyan Tree Group and a solar power plant worth 1.15 trillion VND of Doan Son Thuy Investment Joint Stock Company.
Foreign investment projects mainly focus on cement, beer production, mining, transportation, garment-textile, hotels, restaurants and resorts.
Tourism is a strong field of Thua Thien-Hue that draws the most investment at present.
To lure more investors, the locality will create a favourable environment for businesses and prioritise financial resources for infrastructure.
Local authorities will also work to ensure economic growth, environmental protection and social affairs, and address marine environmental incidents.
The province will spend more than 2 trillion VND to implement key programmes on developing economic and technical infrastructure and industry in 2018 while improving infrastructure and services.
It moves to improve the vocational training system and push administrative reforms by promoting the one-stop-shop mechanism, ensuring more than 80 percent of businesses and people are satisfied with the settlement of administrative procedures.-VNA
