Top architectural, property developers receive awards

The top 10 Vietnamese architectural and property developers and firms of 2018 were honoured at an annual ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City last week by Asia’s leading construction solution provider BCI.

HCM City (VNA) - The top 10Vietnamese architectural and property developers and firms of2018 were honoured at an annual ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City lastweek by Asia’s leading construction solution provider BCI.

The awards, which encourage sociallyresponsible architecture, serve as a platform for domestic andinternational networking by elite architecture firms, property developers,manufacturers and service providers.

The portfolios of these elite architecture firmscontain nearly 7.6 billion USD worth of properties scheduled to startconstruction in Vietnam this year, while the portfolios of these topdevelopers contain around 4 billion USD.

The winners of 2018 are architecture andproperty developer firms with the greatest aggregate value of projects underconstruction during the last full calendar year weighted by the extent of theirsustainability efforts.

For architectural firms, pre-tenderprojects were included to recognise early incorporation of green designefforts.

The awards for BCI Asia Top 10Architects for 2018 were given to Archetype Vietnam Ltd, BE Southeast Asia Co Ltd, DAC – VietnamArchitectural Design and Consultancy Company, Dark Horse Architecture Co Ltd,DP Consulting Co Ltd, GK Archi Co Ltd, Mai-Archi Co Ltd, NQH Architects Co Ltd,RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Vietnam) Co Ltd and WestGreen Design Inc.

The BCI Asia Top 10 Developers Awards for 2018were presented to Dat Xanh Group, EmpireGroup, FLC Group, Hung Thinh Real Estate Business Investment Corporation,MBLand Holdings, Phuc Khang Corporation, Sun Group, Tien Phuoc Real EstateJoint Stock Company, VinaCapital Real Estate Co Ltd, and Vingroup.

Around 150 architects, designers, seniorexecutives and leading professionals in the building and property developmentindustry were presented with the FuturArc Prize (green design competition), FuturArc GreenLeadership Award, and Interior Design Awards.

Currently in its 11thyear, the FuturArc Prize, Asia’s foremost green building designcompetition, was first established as a platform where innovativeideas pour in from professionals and students globally.

Six winning designs were selectedthis year for “their take on abiophilic Asian city”.

This year the prize invited entrants to imagine a city ofbiophilic delight, and to investigate what is ‘nature’ when it is anintegral part of a city.

They were tasked to make a case for how an Asian city might becomea ‘forest’ (one that connects inhabitants to nature; restores ecosystemservices; affects the form and shape of buildings and the network of streetsand parks) and, in the process, create a new kind of urban ecology.

Nguyen Quynh Nghi from Vietnam and her teamwon the second place for their student entry titled Bio-Necropolis, whichproposes generating a new park structure for a cemetery by usinga variety of new technologies, thereby fulfilling humans’ role within theecological cycle and improving the local economy.

Now in its eighth year, the FuturArcGreen Leadership Award (FGLA) awarded nine outstanding green projectsfrom five economies in Asia: Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

The competition recognises teamsbehind green-built projects that have demonstrated the best inarchitectural innovation and environmental stewardship in the region.

Vietnam won four out of a totalof nine prizes, with three going to Vo Trong NghiaArchitects and the other to H&P Architects.

In its second year, the BCI Asia InteriorDesign Awards (IDA) recognise excellent interior architectural designsthat stand out aesthetically, functionally and ergonomically.

This cycle, IDA 2018 expanded its scope toinclude projects based in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

It was also extended to the followingcategories: Schools, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Workplace, Residential,Retail and Exhibition.

Vietnam won nine meritprizes in IDA 2018. Ceremonies for the 14th BCI Asia Top Award werealso held in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,Singapore, and Thailand.-VNA
