Top leader emphasises youth’s role in national development

Hanoi (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi on March 23.

The anniversary is an opportunity for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) to review its heroic tradition and contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on behalf of the Party and State leaders extended warm regards to delegates, guests, and officials of the Youth Union in different periods, all young people, teenagers and children all over the country. He emphasised: "Youth are an important part of the nation, the backbone of the nation. If the youth are strong, the nation will be strong. In the strength of the nation, there is the strength of the youth."

The top leader stressed that, during the country’s long history, young people have always promoted the tradition of patriotism, actively pioneered in all fields, and made significant contributions to the cause of national protection and development.

Speaking highly of the HCYU’s contributions, he said young people should further promote their pioneer role and creativeness, while the youth unions at all levels should create momentum for young people to study and work harder to protect the nation, as well as develop high-quality young officials for the Party.

Besides, the leader asked Party committees and administrations at all levels, ministries and sectors to create favourable conditions to consolidate the youth unions.

He affirmed that the Party, State and people have strong belief and high expectations for younger generations, expressing his hope that the Vietnamese youth, particularly young Party members, will lead the way in building a prosperous nation.

“Youths must be pioneers in implementing the policy of promoting national digital transformation; developing the digital economy on the basis of science and technology and innovation; must be the first and most active in deep integration into the world. It is necessary to continue to uphold the spirit of volunteering, sharing with the community, taking care of children; volunteering to go to remote and disadvantaged areas to reach the poor and vulnerable people," Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasised.

90 years of development

The 90-year history of the glorious tradition of the Youth Union shows that the Vietnamese youth and the Youth Union’s staff have made great and positive contributions to the common achievements of the country.

Over the past 90 years, generations of Youth union’s officials have demonstrated their absolute loyalty to the Party and nation and been willing to accept all the tasks assigned by the Party and pioneer to difficult areas, devote and sacrifice for the country and people.  

Meanwhile, First Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan said over the past nine decades, the HCYU has constantly developed and grown up and been absolutely loyal to the Party, and worthy of being the reliable reserve contingent of the Party.

He affirmed that the youth union’s development throughout different periods has met urgent requirements of youth movements.

From eight members, after 90 years, there are more than 6.2 million union members. The united front gathering youth is increasingly expanded; cooperative relations with youth organisations of other countries and international organizations have been consolidated and strengthened. The position of Vietnamese youth in the international arena is enhanced, according to Tuan.

In the near future, the youth union determined to participate in socio-economic development, protect the Fatherland and contributing to the realization of the country’s development goals by 2030, with a vision to 2045, Tuan said.

On the occasion, the HCYU was presented with an Order of Ho Chi Minh./.

Vietnam ready to strengthen BRICS connection with Asia-Pacific

Hang called on countries to act responsibly in accordance with international law and the UN Charter; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states; refrain from using or threatening to use force; and settle disputes peacefully through dialogue. Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–DPRK relations

Visitors at the exhibition were moved by historical photographs dating back nearly 70 years, including images of the founding leader of the DPRK Kim Il Sung personally welcoming President Ho Chi Minh and a CPV delegation at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport during their visit to the DPRK from July 8–12, 1957. In return, the DPRK leader paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 27 to December 3, 1958.
