Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh triumphed in the Australian Open Grand Prix after cruising past Malaysian Yogendran Krishnan 21-14, 21-11 in the men's singles final on July 18.

Minh, the tournament top seed, took only 36 minutes to snatchvictory in the final, collecting his first title of the year.

In the semi-finals at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centreon Saturday, Minh eased past Indonesian Alamsyah Yunus 21-10, 21-14.

The 25-year-old became the first Vietnamese Olympianbadminton player at the Beijing Games two years ago.

Last year, the HCM City-born athlete recorded a shock victory againstworld No 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the Aviva Singapore SuperSeries./.

Digital innovation breathes new life into Vietnam’s museums
