Seven Vietnamese weightlifters will fly to Kazakhstan on June 18 to compete in the Asian Weightlifting Championships.
The athletes are currently practising at the National Sports Training Centre with the support of a Bulgarian expert, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) website.
The men’s 56kg category still draws the most attention and top lifters Quoc Toan and Kim Tuan will represent Vietnam in the event.
Quoc Toan, who won a silver medal at last year’s competition in the Republic of Korea (RoK), is recovering from injury and he is one of Vietnam’s hopefuls this year.
The tournament offers a good opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to prepare for the World Weightlifting Championships this October, as well as the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar this year and 17th Asian Games in the RoK in 2014.-VNA
