The ancient imperial city of Hue in the central province ofThua Thien-Hue will host a tourism promotion programme to coincidewith the reopening of Phu Bai Airport next month.
Phan Tien Dung, director of the Thua Thien-Hue provincialDepartment of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the campaign wouldinclude a series of cultural and tourism events to celebrate 20 Huerelic sites and the 10th anniversary of Nha Nhac (Court Music)’srecognition as part of the world intangible cultural heritage.
The campaign, scheduled for September 1-25, will feature discounts onhotel rates and other services and attractions like free Nha Nhacperformances.
The airport was closed on March 20 forrunway repairs, and since then visitors to Hue had to fly to DaNang, about 100km further south, and continue by road to Hue.
Despite the closure, the province welcomed more than one milliontourists in the first seven months, an increase of three percentyear-on-year, including 400,000 foreigners.-VNA
